Chocobo Racing

Chocobo Racing, released in Japan as Chocobo Racing ~Genkai he no Road~ is Squaresoft's racing game. It is similar to Crash Team Racing, with the characters from Chocobo series and some from Final Fantasy series. There are 5 different mode that can be played, Story mode, Grand Prix mode, VS mode, Time Attack mode, and Relay Race mode.

In story mode, Chocobo with his JetBlade (jet roller skate) invented by Cid, decided to go in adventure with his friend Mog to unveil the mystery of blue crystal. You must defeat the challenge in each stage and they will available to be used in the next race. Every stage come with harder challenger and harder stage, with the final stage you must defeat King of Esper, Bahamut in Fantasia. Finishing this mode many times to unlock the secret characters. Each time you complete this mode, you can make your own character using the point you get.

In Grand Prix Mode, we can choose to play versus Com, versus Player 2, or as spectator. The player must race in 4 different track and collect a point to become champion. If player become champion, the FMV of the character (except secret character) you used will be played at the end of race. If you beat time in each track, you can unlock class (Chocobo, Behemoth, and Bahamut) to be played with different difficulties.

In Time Attack mode, you race alone in track to see how fast you can do in that track, If you beat the record, you can register your character as 'Phantom Racer'.

In VS mode, you select the racer and choose the rival to battle 1-on-1 in the selected track. You can play as Squall Leonhart and the rival is Cloud Strife to see who the best racer here :p

In Relay Race mode, you must choose three racer, and you must win against three racer too. This mode is like an estafet race.

This game is really interesting, with magic from Final Fantasy series can be used to attack other racer, and each racer have a unique ability that can be used (Bahamut uses Mega Flare, Squall Leonhart uses Gunblade, Chocobo uses Dash). The FMV is really great too, and the secret character is really a lot (you must finish story mode ten times to have complete characters, including Cloud Strife and Aya Brea). The track also challenging. For the fan of Chocobo series and Final Fantasy series, you must try this game.
